Winter Wonderland is the country's largest regional stage combat workshop, sanctioned by the Society of American Fight Directors, offering over 90 classes with famed Fight Masters and Directors, such as SAFD and United Stuntmens Association founder, David Boushey, David Woolly, J. Allen Suddeth, K. Jenny Jones, and Richard Raether, and John MacFarland. FD MacFarland presented a taste of his Contemporary Violence workshop at Fight Jam last summer.
While Greg and Adam busted their humps working as Coordinators for the workshop, this little Scrapperette got to make the Fight Jam vendor presentation for Friday's vendor night. The night included several tables by talented weapons makers, including Neil Massey's Rogue Steel, and information from Chicago's Babes with Blades. Our own table handed out info, some nifty FJ buttons, and "Oh, my god, these are DELICIOUS!" (quote from FD John MacFarland) Fight Jam logo cookies, and held a t-shirt raffle.
Aside from having our cookies praised, we made a lot a new friends from Chicago, and around the country who signed up for our mailing list, and offered their opinions on the Fight Jam concept. We even had the likes of SAFD and USA founder, David Boushey sign up for info about us!
If you want to join the ranks of our famous correspondents and receive monthly FJ emails, let us know at FightJamChicago@gmail.com .
Later on, we got to spend some quality time with our heroes, as is seen here. John MacFarland, who is sporting a FJ button, is single handedly lifting our founder, Greg Poljacik from a standing position.Later on that evening, we had a chance to discuss the role and goals of FJ in the city of Chicago at our first Fight Jam Slumber Party!
All in all, a great night spreading the word about Fight Jam.
Check back again soon to see Greg and Adam's entries on the rest of the weekend, including working with the talented teaching staff, classes, and other zany tales!
