Weapons Wednesday

ummm...yeah...this is late....whatever....

I don't know about you guys but I LOVE the show Mythbusters. Just watched an episode where they were testing a claim that the Hungarian Horse Mounted Archers could get twice the penetrating power out of their arrows when they were at full galop. Turns out that the myth was busted. There was an increase of about %25 at 40mph, but that was far from the claim of twice as much.

Got me thinking though about the bow and arrow in general. Is this something that can be used effectively on stage? Naturally if you have a good enough archer, you can have them shoot at set pieces and the like. Also, you can always go for the trusty trick where the shooter fakes a shot and hides the arrow, then then victim reveals a second (identical) arrow as they hold it in the place of contact. Those are the two options that come to mind, but what else?

I therefore pose a question to the Scrappers and the fight community:

How have you used or seen bows and arrows used on stage? Was it effective? How else can we surprise audiences with our use of this weapon?

Please post your response in the comments section below!
