Well, maybe Wednesday, but we are going to pretend its Tuesday while reading this.
Above is a large and beautiful metal lathe.
These machines are pretty cool normally, but this one stands out because it is over 100 years old, still runs off of belts made of leather (one is a chain made of leather links instead of metal!) and operates as if it were new.
Why ate they cool? Well, they are one of the few machines that are entirely self replicating. You can make every piece of the lathe with another lathe or itself.
It's cool for combat because its what is used to make custom and regular pommels, grips, hilt pieces, anything really.
Typically its a machinists tool and when well used they can be very precise. They come in different sizes for different jobs and have a bevy of interchangeable parts to best suit the job being done.
It's an unassuming piece of equipment but extremely valuable and fun to use.
