Fun Fact Friday: Effect of Sleep Deprivation

To build off of yesterdays post, here is what happens when you don't get enough sleep:

Without adequate rest, the brain's ability to perform simple tasks is reduced. Prolonged deprivation can even cause hallucinogenic episodes and psychiatric problems.

Other possible effects of sleep deprivation include: Depression Heart disease Hypertension Irritability Slower reaction times.

On a side note, while it shouldn't be a substitute for sleep, according to Air Force tests caffeine is the best stimulant to keep you awake and alert. They tested different substances with pilots (some more illicit than others...) in order to determine what would be best to keep them awake on long flights/missions.

Don't fight tired! If you have no choice for god sakes drink some coffee...
